Introduction to throwing

Learn the basics in small groups of two.

In this 2 hour taster session you will learn the basics of throwing in a very small intimate group. Classes are limited to 1 or 2 people.

This short 2 hour course will give you just a taste of all of the potential you can get out of wheel thrown pottery. You’ll learn how to centre the most important skill for creating on a wheel. Then we move on to making a cylinder form all the while having expert tuition from one of our resident potters.

Your piece will be ready to paint and decorate in around 2 weeks, and you’ll get a reminder to book into one of our colour workshops if you’d like to complete your piece. If you are happy for it to stay naked (or are not local and need it posting) there’s a small £5 charge per piece for us to give it a finishing transparent glaze for you, after which it will be complete, food safe, and ready for use.
